Overdosed America: The Broken Promise of American Medicine by John Abramson
It's very interesting and somewhat frightening reading. Even here in Canada we have some medication advertising and so on - though not to the extent of the USA. This is a book that I would LOVE to hear my Dad's review of.
The chapters I read last night talked about how many times drugs and treatments are marketed and then prescribed that are very expensive to the medical system and not as effective as cheaper alternatives - sometimes just lifestyle changes.
